**This post was meant for Friday November 11, 2011**
Today I got to do what I’ve been looking forward to the entire week: Having Friday off work, sleeping in…and going to theAmerican Apparel Warehouse Sale.
I haven’t been to the American Apparel Warehouse Sale sale since 2009 when it was held at PNE Pacific Coliseum, and I don’t know where it was held last year, but I can definitely say that this year the venue (which is the Vancouver Convention Centre) is so much better than 2009— in regards to the size of venue, the organization of the sale (items were much easier to find), and the variety of clothing available. Any way, I know I said I missed 2010, but starting this year, I am going to make going to the AA Warehouse Sale a yearly tradition! **Side note, only thing that sucked about the location was parking costs incurred on account of the sale was held in Downtown. Boo-urns.
As for the sale itself, of course I bought some clothes, but I’m actually surprised I didn’t buy more. The entire East Building of the Convention Centre was full of AA stuff—jackets, pants, undergarments, socks, belts, bags, dresses, tops, sweaters, leggings, sweats, shorts, blazers, cardigans ETC! Regardless if it’s a good or bad thing that I bought only four items, I wanted to share them with everyone.
1. Polka dot pull over sweater- What a classic piece! And so cute too. This was only $26, from an original $60…meaning I’d be losing money NOT buying it!
2. Baggy over-sized hoodie- I think this was my favourite item! At the 2009 American Apparel sale, I bought the same item in a different colour, and I am SO happy I was able to find it in this beige cream colour! Love it! It was such a steal too, at $12!!!
3. Striped boxy loose top- I’m not sure if this is the most accurate description of it, but the best way I would describe this shirt is being loose all around, silky, and a must-have top because you can feel both stylish and comfortable at the same time (shirt is loose at mid section, so definitely wear when you are going for AYCE=All You Can Eat). This top was reduced from its original price of $38 to $12.
Oh, and the neon pink scarf you see worn with this top is the one and only Circle Scarf! My sister bought it, but I thought it would be an awesome statement piece to show off with this outfit! The scarf was $18.
4. Pink cardigan- I was contemplating whether to get this one, but I was so in love with the shade of pink, and it’s a colour that I don’t have a lot of in my wardrobe…so of course I would buy it :p I was surprised it was $25 (thought it would be cheaper) but I justified the purchase by telling myself I did have a lot of items that I could wear with the cardigan….Well actually, it was more like a “What the hell, just get it” moment.
The thing I love about American Apparel is that a lot of their clothing is basic, and the beauty of that is you can mix and match them with almost anything in your wardrobe, as well as easily layer the items on top of each other (which is what I will be doing with the clothes I bought). Even though I only walked away with four items, you can consider this post as my recommendation to check out the American Apparel Warehouse Sale, which is on now until Sunday, November 13! Go, it’s FREE admission!
